Three Empty Weeks in July, 2022 (selected)
press release | exhibiton views
Three Empty Weeks in July is a conceptual photographic project for which I set out to take one instant film self-portrait each day. Ultimately, I failed in this diurnal process by not taking photographs for three weeks in July 2022, but this fact has emerged as the most compelling aspect of the project in the recognition of the incompleteness of identity, and the idea of failure and acknowledging imperfection. This process challenges the Western notion of perfection and rationality embodied by the mathematically precise circle and recognizes and reifies my status and sense of belonging, not only in terms of gender identity, but also as an Eastern European immigrant.
