Self-Portraits in Nature 2015 - 2018 (selected)

I began to photograph myself in nature as a performative means of reconnecting with my past, my life in nature in Mikulov on the family farm, a place of both self-sufficiency and connection to the land and its cycles of fallow and flower. It was a connection to my youth, my past, my family, and my home that was psychologically necessary as I could not return there at the time. This sense of being, or seeing, of photographing myself in the American landscape in my self-portrait in nature work (2015-) is a means of establishing my place, my existence—of literally picturing myself in a new environment.
